Welcome to my blog, Elite Military Forces. Firstly I hope there is something you find interesting on the blog, for now, let me cover a little bit about the site and what I hope to do going forward. I sell books. I buy them in bulk and that means I get to keep all the military ones that catch my eye. These are a few of my military books. You can look in my garage and there are more bookcases and bag fulls. They’re everywhere.
What is the Blog About?
It’s all in the title. Elite Military Forces. So what exactly is classed as elite? This is subjective of course. What one person might consider elite, another person considers crap. There are no set rules. I don’t have any set rules for what’s elite. I didn’t plan the name to the tee so that it would cover exactly what I wanted to share (it was almost called Global Military Warfare) because I have a wide interest in all things military. Being a former Royal Marines Commando ( I left in 2008) I have a large (and biased) interest in the Royal Marines.
So in the basic grasp of ‘elite’, I will be writing about the main special forces units that everybody knows like the SAS, SBS, Delta, SEAL Team 6 but also covering the Royal Marines, the Paras, US Rangers, Navy SEALs. I will then stretch out a bit more and look at units such as the French Foreign Legion, Polish Grom, Aussie SASR and more.
It’s whatever I can find time to learn about. There is so much that I want to read and find out about that there will be some posts about regular army units. Some might not consider these elite but they still do a great job with great blokes.
I’m using this blog to document what I am learning about. There are thousands of books, missions, soldiers, stories and escapes among the history out there. I want to cover as much of it as I can and share with you what I am learning.
Where else can you find me?
Meanwhile, all feedback, good or bad is welcome. Suggestions and ideas for more blog posts, good books to read (I might already have some of them) and interesting battles, missions, soldiers, anything really that you think I should dip my toes into to learn about then let me know either on the contact page on here, comment on a blog post or hit me up on social media.
