It’s hard to get a team working together. Especially if that team don’t really speak the same language. Sometimes special operations soldiers have to work with foreign troops that don’t speak a word of English. They still need to get the job done successfully.
You can’t just crack on when the foreign soldier you’re training is ignoring everything your saying. That would be stupid. They could be more focused on doing their hair or playing noughts and crosses on a compound wall and a large stick.
Sometimes we have trouble understanding our friends that even speak the same language as we do. Not only when they’re pissed out of their faces.
It Can Be Done – Special Operations Can Do it!
You CAN work as a team even if you don’t speak the same language as shown here in this contact with Taliban fighters in Zombalay, Afghanistan.
They’re not shooting the shit with the Taliban though. It’s US Special Operations working with A Company, 1st Batallion, 30th Infantry Regiment and the Afghan Local Police when they come in to contact with Taliban fighters.
I will be assuming that the Afghan’s cannot speak great English because they can’t do much to a high level. Cue lots of pointing and poking to get your ideas across. And making sure they don’t point their weapon anywhere fucking near you!
