Robert Greene has given us many laws. This is one of my favourite ones. He isn’t in charge though. Don’t think that you have to abide by his laws but he is a very successful author and 48 Laws of Power is an excellent book that I recently read. He is someone I would personally suggest to listen to. For your own good.
This is one that you definitely need to refer back to, get the laws in your head and live by them. I cannot see how you will be worse off by living that way.
Law 15 – Crush Your Enemy Totally –
All great leaders since Moses have known that a feared enemy must be crushed completely. (Sometimes they have learned this the hard way.) If one ember is left alight, no matter how dimly it smolders, a fire will eventually break out. More is lost through stopping halfway than through total annihilation. The enemy will recover, and will seek revenge. Crush him, not only in body but in spirit.
Now I am starting to put this in to practice in business. There are people who I compete with for stock. Some of them are very large businesses so it’s not an easy open and shut case that I can just take it over.
It takes time. It will take me time. But I have time. I have the passion to do it. I am willing to put in the work. I recently got another deal to collect books from somewhere where they already have someone (a large business) but this business said they didn’t want to come again and do two pick ups a week.
So What Do I Do Next?
Here is where I step in. I start to collect. I be reliable, I am there fast when they ring and I make life easy for them even if it makes life hard for me. This is value to them. I want to give them value. In time I will be the main choice above the other business because I will be more reliable, give more value and I will crush them, totally.
Somewhere else where this law should be put in to action but isn’t is in sports. I play football. I am sure lots of you watch football, or sports of some kind.
Think to yourself now, how often to you see big comebacks when all is seemingly lost? Teams can be 3-0 up and lose 3-5 like my team, Spurs. That was a long time ago but it still happens to other teams.
I recently went on holiday and had to miss collecting books for that week. When I got back last week the guys at the shop said the other people that collect them thought it was Christmas with the amount of books there.
The shop rang the other people and asked them to come out an extra time due to the amount of them and they really didn’t want to, they’re losing interest slowly but surely. They are giving up the whole game and I will be there to pick it up.
Always be ready to pick up the pieces of your enemy when they have been crushed. They are your enemy because you’re both fighting for the same things. You’re fighting for the same customers, you’re fighting for the same girl, you’re fighting for the same trophy.
Whatever you’re fighting for you have to crush them totally so that you can have what you want and not face their comebacks.
