The British SAS are probably the most trained, highly skilled, well-respected special forces unit in the world. SAS weapons are a plenty and they have a great choice to use different weapons for different situations.
Everyone with a slight interest in the military has heard about them. Even in passing. But what weapons do they use to notch up the bad guys in a big pile of dead bodies?
Well, among the SAS weapons at their disposal, the main weapon to hand out death with is the L119A1 / L119A2 Carbine. Also known as the C8 Carbine, this weapon replaced the M-16 around the turn of the millennium and has been used as the main assault rifle / carbine ever since.
Main SAS Weapons Ammunition
The L119A1 has 30 round magazines filled with 5.56mm rounds. It also comes with a shortened barrel of 10 inches which is preferable when engaging the enemy at closer ranges and tight, built up areas.
When it’s a clear close quarter battle situation the MP5 is used as the preferred weapon. The MP5 is much better at closer ranges.
Why Use It?
It just makes things easier when the bad guys are hiding in their buildings being assholes like usual.
They need to receive a nice round to the face to put them in their correct position which is in a heap on the floor so to have a shorter barrel is better and the SAS use it to get the job done.
And get the job done they do.
Here is a short video showing the C8 Carbine in action.
